I've been wanting to start blogging for a while, so what better time is there to start then when you're completely snowed in and tucked up with a cup of tea?
I guess I've had this niggle over the past few months to do something more with my time. If you have come here from my Youtube (I post stop-motion drawings) then you probably already know me and that I sometimes make an effort to post a video up. Last week I uploaded a speed drawing which was the first one in 3 whole months (woops!) and I felt so happy to have finally got back into the routine of sharing my drawings with you guys. I had really missed the Internet and seeing what people have to say, so I will definitely be trying a lot harder this year.
These past 3 years or so I feel have probably been the best and worst in different ways. My family have been through things that I couldn't have ever imagined and definitely things that I would never wish upon anybody! That being said, I've also had some amazing memories that will always stay with me. My point is, I know people of all kinds of different ages are still going through these horrible events every single day. So, my aim of this blog is to be somewhere to get away from all that, a place to have a bit of a laugh and motivate you lovely people to want to do something more with your lives, whether its small, large or everything in between!
I have a bunch of stuff I want to achieve in 2013. Some of these I have been planning for a while, some are just every day things that I would like do in order to enjoy myself a bit more.
- To generally have a more positive outlook on myself and everyone around me. Sometimes when you think you have a bad life, you don't, you're just having a bad day. It's so easy to slip up and let your problems and irritations out on other people (I think my sister would vouch for me on this, she has felt my wrath plenty of times). It's also easier said than done to just let the little things go, but in light of everything that has happened over the past few years, you really begin to realise... they don't matter at all. Last year I tried to see the positives in things -however small - in every single day, which is what made some of the best memories I've ever had. You really don't know what's coming round the corner, good or bad, but until it does, you really have to appreciate each day for what it has to offer!
- Do well in exams. I know this is a kind of vague point, but doing well is completely different to everyone, and you should always do what you feel you can achieve and be proud of. Posts on revision ideas won't go amiss in the upcoming months for sure!
- Raise enough money to go on a 25 day expedition to China & Mongolia in July - I'm so excited! It's even been a whole year since we were given the opportunity to go and now it's only 5 months away, time moves so quickly and you don't even realise. To all you travellers - some posts on fund-raising tips and equipment will be coming your way.
- Add to my photograph collection on my wall. At the moment the space above my bed has been butchered with blue tack, photos and torn up company magazines. It gives me the warm fuzzies whenever I look at it, and it seems like a billion memories have been squashed into the same place.
- Get healthy! The most common resolution for a new year, I know, but I mean it. Last year for Lent I gave up chocolate and I have never felt so healthy before as a teenager! It sounds strange but I actually enjoyed it. Ditching the fatty foods has appeared to be successful for the past two weeks so far and I'm exercising more. I'm doing this for myself and also to be prepared for the expedition in July.
So there you have it. My blog will be featured on a really wide range of things; whether it's art, travelling or just wanting to have a bit of a chat, I really hope it's somewhere that you will enjoy to read and get involved with.
Here's to the year ahead!
